Fan Placement

Sorry, no photos of the struggle to get the fan through the closet access hole and into the attic. The requirement for the fan to be sealed, to draw air ONLY from the living room, required it to be enclosed and sealed. It needs a floor, sides and top at the intake, and sealed to the wall. This documents the placement of the fan.

This photo sequence contains 6 frames. Each landscape frame is a finite 1366 pixels wide but height was left to its own based on the crop. Portrait frames are vertically limited to 1000 pixels. I based the picture size on an email program's display window asuming that the picture would not be automatically resized to fit. This technique kept the file size down, the largest being 750k making it easy to send and receive through email. All photos were taken with a Nikon D810 or a Samsung Galaxy S7.

The floor boards came from the bedroom furniture shipping container, a 4' x 8' sheet of
particle board cut in thirds the long way. To support it at the wall inside the attic, I had
to cut it to fit between the 2 x 4 structure. A piece of cardboard worked as a template.

The floor boards fit perfectly. Supported and sealed.

Under the floor boards I added a few support 2 x 4s
between the rafters. The TV wires were placed in grooves
I cut into the rafters. They're protected.

Now it's ready to be connected and sealed to the vent.

Lots of measuring on both sides and I made the walls. The front and rear boards
connect it to the 2 x 4s of the wall. The other side is the same.

The roof panel took some measuring, cutting, then sealing. Notice the rubber pad below the fan box.
It's a soft rubber floor mat for a garage work bench. It keeps the vibration and noise down.
