After staying overnight in Ukiah, we drove north to the CA20 and headed east. We stopped at Lake Mendocino for a photo shoot. My lack of experience with the BMW was about to teach me a lesson: I parked it in the sand off the road, grabbed the camera and walked toward the lake. As I was snapping away at the lake, the Beemer's kick stand dug deep into the sand and down she went! A fireman driving by stopped to help me pick it up. (The bike weighs 850 lbs before I get on it). That was nice of him. I didn't remember which lake we stopped at, so I "fondly" make reference to it as "Drop Lake".
